SEND Outdoor Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated SEND Outdoor Teaching Assistants to support pupils in schools across Exeter and the surrounding areas.

Pay Rate: £105–£115 per dayStart Date: September 2026Contract: Full-time, Term Time OnlyHours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 am–5:00pm

• Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEND during outdoor learning activities
• Encourage participation, confidence, and independence through hands-on learning experiences
• Adapt activities to meet individual learning needs and abilities
• Support the delivery of EHCPs, IEPs, and behaviour support plans within practical and outdoor environments
• Promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and communication skills
• Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCo, and wider support staff to ensure pupils receive consistent support
• Help create a safe, engaging, and inclusive outdoor learning environment

• Experience working with children or young people with SEND (desirable but not essential)
• Transferable experience from sectors such as care, youth work, outdoor education, sports coaching, or family SEND support
• A patient, resilient, and proactive attitude
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• A genuine passion for supporting young people to achieve their potential
• An interest in outdoor learning and experiential education
